Senior health officer handed over to ACE for taking bribe

Anti-Corruption team arrests deputy director in sting operation ordered by CM's advisor

In a major crackdown on corruption, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has arrested a senior officer of the Health Department while accepting a bribe.

The action was taken following a complaint received by Advisor to the Chief Minister on Anti-Corruption, Mussadiq Abbasi, regarding alleged bribery by Deputy Director of Internal Audit Cell in the Health Department. According to the complaint, the officer had demanded a bribe of Rs. 2 million to clear audit objections.

Taking immediate notice of the complaint, Advisor Mussadiq Abbasi ordered an immediate action. Acting on these directives, Director Anti-Corruption Siddique Anjum led a successful sting operation, during which the accused officer, Zahir Shah, was caught red-handed accepting Rs. 1 million in bribe in the presence of a magistrate.

The arrest was made at the office of the Section Officer General, Health Department, where Zahir Shah was allegedly receiving the bribe amount. The Anti-Corruption team recovered the money on the spot and handed over the accused to the Special Investigation Wing of the Anti-Corruption establishment for further legal proceedings.
